NOVEMBER 2015 • The final piece of the puzzle is in place. In late October, Highland Meadows home owners had front row seats to watch as the final section of the Green Way walking trail connecting the neighborhoood to the Tygart Valley Mall was excavated, constructed, and landscaped. And the foot traffic hasn’t stopped since.
Completion of the Green Way walking trail has been a goal since the inception of the neighborhood. Designed as a walkable community, Highland Meadows encourages pedestrian activity through its wide, paved streets, its front porches providing “eyes on the street”, and its proximity to shopping and entertainment at the adjacent mall. And it works, with the daily activity of walkers making laps around the cul-de-sac, or shoppers on foot heading to the Mall for a quick stop at the grocery store or pharmacy. Some additional plantings are planned for the spring, but even before that happens, our completed Green Way walking trail is a beautiful and useful addition to the Highland Meadows neighborhood.
